Entertainment Acts Announced

Auto Club Speedway announced today a star studded entertainment line up to debut the Entertainment Stage of the track's multi-million dollar Midway renovation project opening on Labor Day NASCAR weekend. The Entertainment Stage will be the centerpiece of the Town Center, which also includes Apex by Wolfgang Puck, a full-service restaurant.

Other features in the newly redesigned Midway include a retail store, enhanced shade features, giant video walls, improved picnic and leisure areas and interactive performers.

"The musical acts that are on deck for the SONY HD 500 are as talented as they are diverse," said Auto Club Speedway President Gillian Zucker. "The grand opening of the Entertainment Stage in the newly redesigned Midway will truly have something for everyone. Auto Club Speedway has elevated the benchmark for all motorsports and entertainment facilities across the nation by creating a Town Center where race fans can gather to enjoy the ultimate NASCAR experience."

Taking the stage prior to the SONY HD 500 is Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts and Julie Roberts.

Hailing from Southern California and performing on Sunday are Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts. Belushi hooked up with the Sacred Hearts, the house band for the House of Blues Los Angeles, while he was practicing for his lead singer position next to Dan Aykroyd in the Blues Brothers band. Since then, Belushi and the Sacred Hearts have toured the nation and even created the theme song for Belushi's hit television program, According to Jim, which will be going into syndication this year for the first time (promotional DVDs will be given away at the show). The band consists of ten members and Belushi.

Also appearing on Sunday is country sensation, Julie Roberts. As one of country music's fastest rising stars, Roberts just released her second album, Men & Mascara, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard Country Album charts. The South Carolina native's vocal style can best be described as "deep and blues-soaked." While attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., and working as an assistant for Universal Music Group, she created a demo and presented it to Universal who signed her almost immediately.

With the design almost doubling from the previous Midway, the new Midway will include many entertainment features and interactive performers scattered throughout the environment. Ground breaking for the eye-catching new Midway redesign project began in February, almost immediately following the checkered flag of the 2006 Auto Club 500. Since then, construction crews have been working through the Spring and Summer months to complete the project before the SONY HD 500 on Labor Day weekend.

It's the only place in Southern California where race fans can experience NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series racing action live and in person along with sensational musical performances.
