Race fans are invited to join San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and Auto Club Speedway President Gillian Zucker in honoring Jimmie Johnson, the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion and native of El Cajon, California on Wednesday, January 31.
Johnson will be on hand as Sanders and Zucker proclaim Wednesday "Jimmie Johnson Day" in San Diego. The event, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the San Diego Hall of Champions, Balboa Park is open to the public.
Johnson's No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet will also be on display for fans to take pictures next to their hometown hero's racecar.
