Second Annual NHRA Pacific Sportsnationals Returns To The Auto Club Dragway At Auto Club Speedway

Over 500 of the West Coast's best racers will face off at the Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway this weekend in the second annual JEGS PACIFIC SPORTSnationals presented by K&N.

The last of three SPORTSnationals events for 2007 will feature competition in six NHRA Lucas Oil Series categories including Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street who will be vying for a share of the $60,000 purse plus contingency money posted for this event.  NHRA Lucas Oil Series national event points will be awarded to drivers in all categories with the exception of Super Street.  Additionally, the Dragway will host the Mopar Hemi Challenge - featuring a winner-take-all purse of $5,000 - on Saturday.

Since last hosting the NHRA Pacific SPORTSnationals, the Auto Club Dragway has seen a host of improvements that will benefit both fans and racers alike.  Among the fan improvements include an expanded grandstand featuring aluminum capping on all seating.  During a re-striping of several Speedway parking lots, the Dragway pit area and staging lanes was also sealed and re-striped to provide a better pit layout and to prevent loose gravel get carried up to the starting line.  In addition permanent lighting has been added to the main pit area.

As another benefit for racing and car enthusiasts, the Dragway will host a Nostalgia Cacklefest and an Invitation-only Street Rod display featuring 45 of the coolest hot rods in Southern California.  Both will take place upon the conclusion of Saturday's racing.

In November of 2005, the Automobile Club of Southern California signed a five-year entitlement agreement for the quarter-mile strip, home to a very competitive

Division 7 NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Junior Drag League Racing program sponsored by the Auto Club and the AAA-sponsored NHRA Street Legal Drag Racing program. In addition to these events, NHRA's Summit Series, Pacific Street Car Association and Super Categories use the dragstrip.  Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway is a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned track.

Drag races have been held at Auto Club Speedway since 2001 when the dragstrip was previously located in Lot 1 behind the Speedway's main grandstand. The dragstrip was permanently relocated to the North side of the facility in Lots 6 and 8 in June, 2006 and hosted an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 7 event that month, the first major NHRA event on the new strip.

General admission tickets for Friday's racing are just $10 while tickets for Saturday and Sunday's action are just $20.  Children 12 years or younger are admitted free with a paid adult.  For additional ticket information, please contact the Auto Club Dragway at (909) 429-5060.  For additional information about the event, please visit or
