Thousands of NASCAR fans got a first-hand look at the new NASCAR Sprint Cup car during Preseason Thunder testing at Auto Club Speedway last Thursday and Friday.

Forty-nine Sprint Cup teams arrived at the Speedway to get their first run on track’s 2.0 mile oval.  Of the five sessions spanning two days, Denny Hamlin’s Toyota turned in the best overall time with a 39.447 second lap (182.523 miles per hour) during Thursday morning’s session.

Admission to the grandstands was free while the infield terrace areas were made available to fans that had purchased their Auto Club 500 seats or made a $5 donation to the NASCAR Foundation.  Those contributions totaled over $11,000 raised for the foundation.

“It was a great treat for our fans to get a sneak preview of the Car of Tomorrow and see their favorite NASCAR drivers here at Auto Club Speedway over the two days,” said Auto Club Speedway President Gillian Zucker.
