The Auto Club Speedway today announced it has partnered with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Orange County and the Inland Empire to help celebrate the fifth annual NASCAR Day, taking place across the country this year on Friday, May 16.

“Many people don’t realize the tremendous impact The NASCAR Foundation has on our neighbors and friends in need right here in Southern California,” said Speedway President Gillian Zucker.  “By selecting our local Make-A-Wish Foundation to benefit from this year’s NASCAR Day fundraising efforts, we hope to put a face on how buying a NASCAR Day pin can make dreams come true.”

NASCAR Day collectable lapel pins are available for a $5 donation at the track, online at www.autoclubspeedway.com/NASCARday.  Contributions will go to benefit both Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Orange County and the Inland Empire and the NASCAR Foundation.  The first wish that the Auto Club Speedway will help support is a meeting between 7-year old Evan, from Apple Valley, CA and NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.  The wish will take place on the second weekend of May at Darlington Raceway.  The Auto Club Speedway will host a send-off party for Evan at the Speedway as well as a homecoming event on NASCAR Day after Evan’s wish has been granted.

Over the past five years, nearly five million dollars has been raised to help those who need it most in a celebration as unique as the sport itself.  NASCAR Day, celebrated annually on the third Friday in May, is an opportunity for fans, corporations, schools and organizations to help those in need.  Locally these funds have been used toward relief efforts for thousands of families displaced by the recent wild fire evacuations, to purchase life saving equipment at the Loma Linda Children’s Hospital and to aid other local charities.
