Actor and director Ron Perlman, star of the upcoming new FX drama "Sons of Anarchy", will serve as Grand Marshal for the NASCAR Camping World RV Service 300 Presented by Coleman at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday night, August 30.  He will be joined during the pre-race ceremonies by Virgin Records recording artist Saving Abel, who will perform "The Star Spangled Banner" and Honorary Starter, Dancing With The Stars favorite Cheryl Burke who will wave the green flag.

An award-winning actor who played the title character in the 2004 action-thriller film Hellboy, Perlman has built an intriguing body of work in film, television, and theater over nearly three decades.  He began his professional stage career in his native New York and recently made two trips back to Broadway in A Few Good Men and Bus Stop. Perlman's three-year run on the critically acclaimed television series Beauty and the Beast brought him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor along with two Emmy nominations, and three Viewers For Quality Television Awards.  His most recent film credits include Larry Fessenden's critically acclaimed indie, The Last Winter, and the soon-to-be released The Mutant Chronicles, opposite Thomas Jane and John Malkovich.  He will also appear in I Sell the Dead, opposite Dominic Monaghan; Outlander, opposite Jim Caviezel and John Hurt; Dark Country, which will mark Thomas Jane's directorial debut; Bunraku opposite Demi Moore, Josh Harnett and Woody Harrelson; and Sons of Anarchy, the all-new FX original series which takes viewers inside a world of a notorious outlaw motorcycle club.

Currently on national tour, Virgin Records recording artist Saving Abel, named for the Biblical sibling of Cain, will perform live in concert on the Opportunity, California FanZone Main Stage from 3:30-4:30pm on Saturday prior to their pre-race performance of the National Anthem. The band was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band combines influences of southern rock, hard rock and alternative music. Their debut single,

"Addicted" has been #1 on the mainstream rock chart for 3 weeks in a row and has peaked in the top 10 at modern rock.  Their album is currently #58 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
