Auto Club Speedway Hard Card Members were invited to attend an exclusive announcement by Penske Racing to unveil the new paint scheme for Sam Hornish Jr.’s #77 NASCAR race car as part of a multi-race agreement with the Automobile Club of Southern California beginning in 2009.

Hard Card Member joined Roger Penske, Chairman, Penske Corp, Tom McKernan, CEO, Automobile Club of Southern California and Sam Hornish, Jr., three-time IndyCar Series Champion and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver of the No. 77 Dodge Charger in the Speedway’s Drivers Meeting Room for the press conference, special Q&A session and photo opportunity.

Hard Card members also heard from Speedway President Gillian Zucker about what’s new in 2009 at Auto Club Speedway including:

·         The Action Pack season tickets that include Auto Club Speedway tickets for all six days of NASCAR racing; a three day pass for the American Motorcyclists Association (AMA); a three day pass to the Historic Sportscar Racing Festival (HSR); NHRA Drag Events, a Garage Tour and a Lot 2 Parking Pass.

  • The Speedway’s new October 11th race, which is the fourth race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup.

·         The new Hollywood themed Camping World Backlot-a 286-site campground at Auto Club Speedway that will have a unique Hollywood theme and a variety of activities, including studio-sponsored

movie nights, comfortable common areas and food stands with a cinematic theme.  The campground will have full access to infield stores, water and pump services and easy access to tram services. On top of that, the Camping World Backlot sites are 45’ long by 20’ wide- larger than campsites in the Infield, which measure 40' long by 15' wide!

As always, Hard Card members had the chance to see a uniquely personal side of NASCAR’s elite.  When asked about how he met Roger Penske, Hornish shared a dream he had as a child.  He said that shortly after he started racing go-karts at age 11, he had a dream that he would race cars for Roger Penske.  He commented to the crowd that his life today is "literally a dream come true."

Hard Card Events often make dreams come true for race fans by providing such unique opportunities to see the stars of motorsports up close in a casual environment.  For information on becoming a Hard Card member, click here (LINK TO http://www.autoclubspeedway.com/fan%5Finfo/hard%5Fcard%5Fholders/).
