Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking Looks to NASCAR for a New Number

Irvine, Calif. – Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking, who will be taking part in the Suzuki AMA Pro Superbike Challenge at Auto Club Speedway March 20-22, had a tough task at the beginning of the season choosing a new number, but it didn’t take him long to realize the perfect fit was just four wheels away.

The three-time AMA champion found himself without the No. 2 when another team had already registered with the number. In motorcycle racing, the number on the bike is often seen as the identity of the athlete. Although not thrilled at the time, Hacking looked at the situation as a new start.

“I chose the number, style and color because of Dale Earnhart Jr.,” said Hacking. “He lives close to where I do and I thought it would be a good way to represent North Carolina. Also since our sport is now owned by the France’s, it seemed good to tie in NASCAR with motorcycle racing. I ran the No. 2 for 11 years and I’ve already moved on and really like the No. 88 better.”

Hacking had a great first run aboard the No. 88 during the first round at Daytona International Speedway, finishing fourth. He is undeniably one of the riders to beat for the coveted AMA Daytona SportBike championship.

The 2009 edition of the AMA roars into Auto Club Speedway March 20-22 for the Suzuki AMA Pro Superbike Challenge.  The best bikers in the world will compete for bragging rights in American Superbike and Daytona SportBike classes.  Also fans can enjoy demo rides from the nation’s top bike manufacturers including, Suzuki, sponsor displays, live musical entertainment, great food, an autograph session and fun for the whole family.
