Thousands of Fitness Enthusiasts Descent Upon Auto Club Speedway
San Bernardino County , Calif. – (March 21, 2009) – Almost 5,000 fitness enthusiasts -- kids and adults alike – all weathered the chilly Saturday morning air to take part in the third annual Kids Fitness Challenge at Auto Club Speedway.
In conjunction with the Fitness Challenge Foundation, Inland Empire United Way, County of San Bernardino and Healthy Community, members from a variety of local cities hosted the special 5k Run/Walk/Ride around the Speedway’s 2.36-mile, 21-turn road course.
Following the event, participants enjoyed the festivities and exciting on-track action – all part of the Suzuki AMA Pro Superbike Challenge motorcycle event which will continue Sunday including great on-track action with the AMA Pro Road Racing series’ AMA Pro American Superbike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and AMA Pro SuperSport divisions.
In addition to the Run/Walk/Ride, students experienced the California Healthy Expo located on site with rock climbing walls, soccer clinics, and healthy living experts.
The Fitness Challenge Foundation is dedicated to a comprehensive national vision to reverse the rising rates of obesity through Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Positive Mental Health initiatives, including the development and implementation of policies and programs that promote regular physical activity and nutrition.

Opportunity, California Motorcycle Expo
Featured in the Opportunity, California Motorcycle Expo will be bike manufacturers Suzuki, Ducati, Kawasaki and Aprilia. Motorcycle enthusiasts will want to peruse the manufacturers’ display booths as each bike manufacturer will showcase their 2009 models and rider gear.
Families won’t want to miss the Youth Road Racing motorcycle course in the Opportunity, California Motorcycle Expo. Youth Road Racing offers youth riders a place to learn safe and effective motorcycle racing skills in a family friendly environment. Visit their motorcycle course in the Opportunity, California Motorcycle Expo and see kids of all ages put their racing skills to the test.
Buell will also be at the Opportunity, California Motorcycle Expo with FREE motorcycle demo rides for fans.
AMA Pro Riders Autograph Session
Bring your rider memorabilia and have it signed by your favorite AMA Pro Rider at the All-Rider Autograph Session in the infield on the East end of the garages closest to turn 1 on Sunday, March 22nd The autograph session, which will take place from 12:15pm to 1:00pm, will include the stars of AMA Pro Road Racing including the winner of the Daytona 200, Ben Bostrom, as well as Josh Hayes, Jake Zemke, Jamie Hacking Tommy Hayden and many others.
Motorcycle Fan Lap
Race fans looking for something hands on, get suited up for the Motorcycle Fan Lap. At noon on both Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd fans can get a piece of the action by purchasing a Motorcycle Fan Lap for $10. Amateur riders can get right on the track and ride on the same road course the AMA Pro riders will race on later that day. Fans riding in the Motorcycle Fan Lap must wear a helmet, sign a waiver, and obey speed rules set forth by leaders of the parade laps. Riders must be 18 years or older.
Get access to Pit Road by adding $20 to your admission ticket. Fans that purchase a Pit Pass will get up-close and personal to riders and their teams and new for 2009, fans can experience the exclusive opportunity to walk the grid during Opening Ceremonies. Pit Passes are great for each family member to enjoy, since there are no age requirements.
