San Bernardino County , Calif. – Due to current economic strains on thousands of race fans, Auto Club Speedway will not utilize METROLINK charter train direct service to the Speedway during the Pepsi 500 Weekend in October.

While the Metrolink charter train service directly to the Speedway won't be running, those still wishing to utilize Metrolink can take advantage of the weekend train service on Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line that stops at the Fontana train station (3.7 miles from Auto Club Speedway). Info on the bus service can be found at

Fans choosing to take advantage of local taxi services during Pepsi 500 Weekend in October will have a special drop-off and pick-up area on site. Local taxi companies will be stationed a the conclusion of on-track activity at the pick-up/drop-off location at the Speedway Credential Building parking lot located just outside of the Speedway’s tunnel on the West end of the property.

In addition, tens of thousands of free parking spaces with easy access entrances await the throngs of NASCAR fans who will attend the Inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

“We hope at some point the financial model will again make sense,” said Speedway President Gillian Zucker. “But with the current economic downturn, there is very little demand for a service, no matter how convenient, that charges between $20 and $35 per person to ride the train, especially when on-site parking is free and plentiful. It just doesn’t make sense.”

For those now driving, in addition to free parking and easy access entrances, Auto Club Speedway has partnered with the Inland Empire’s MRN affiliate – KFROG – to make the trip a little easier. Fans making their way to Southern California’s Premier motorsports facility, can tune to 95.1 FM en route to the track for real time traffic updates and tips for easy entrance into the facility.

Tickets to the Pepsi 500 start at just $35 and fans experiencing Auto Club Speedway can also bring in their own food and non alcoholic beverages in approved containers.
