Multi-Platinum Recording Artist Jesse McCartney To Perform Pepsi 500 National Anthem At Auto Club Speedway

San Bernardino County, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2009) –Multi-platinum recording artist and actor Jesse McCartney will perform the national anthem prior to the Inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff race—the Pepsi 500 on Sunday, Oct. 11, 12noon PT at Auto Club Speedway, televised on ABC.

With his release of "Departure" in May 2008, McCartney struck hard, establishing himself at the forefront of a new pop/R&B hybrid. His single, “Leavin’” became the #1 most played Top 40 in 2008 and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the CHR Top 40 Chart and went gold and platinum with over 2 million digital downloads on iTunes. Yet even as the album has seen great success McCartney re-entered the studio, recording several new songs including his latest single “Body Language” featuring rapper T-Pain.  "Body Language is a follow up to last year’s hit Leavin’. “Both are epic tracks that get everybody out of their seats and onto the dance floor," McCartney says of the song. In fact, while performing Body Language at the Mandela Day concert in New York this past summer, McCartney did just that—the audience responded enthusiastically to the song, by dancing and cheering throughout the entire set.

McCartney has also expanded as a songwriter, composing songs for other artists. One of which is “Bleeding Love”, a powerful ballad co-written with Ryan Tedder and recorded by Leona Lewis. The song was picked by music industry veteran Clive Davis as a single for Lewis, and has earned McCartney songwriting honors as a recipient of the ASCAP Pop Music Award for Song of the Year (2008). McCartney’s strength as a songwriter has attracted several major artists, including Toni Braxton and Jordin Sparks.

McCartney can be heard on the big screen once again as the voice of Theodore in the live-action/CG family comedy “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” out December 25th, 2009.
