San Bernardino County, Calif. (Oct. 5 , 2009) – Auto Club Speedway announced today that Kelsey Grammer will serve as Grand Marshal for Southern California’s Inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff race -- the Pepsi 500 on Sunday, October 11 at 12noon PDT at Auto Club Speedway.  Grammer, who stars in the new ABC comedy “Hank," will give the most famous command in racing "Gentlemen, start your engines" to all 43 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers who are vying for the coveted checkered flag.

Grammer, best known for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane on "Cheers,” played Crane in two different television series ("Wings" and "Frasier") over a span of 20 years, tying the record for longest-running television character.  Portraying Crane, Grammer has won four Emmys, two Golden Globes and a SAG Award and has received an unparalleled 16 Emmy nominations, eight Golden Globe nominations and 16 SAG nominations.

Fans can catch Grammer on “Hank” Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC.  Also in theatres now, Grammer stars in the remake of “Fame,” as the orchestra maestro at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts.
