NASCAR Driver Jeff Burton To Hold “Story Time” For Lefty’s Kids Club Members Prior To Auto Club 500
San Bernardino County, Calif. (Feb. 12, 2010) – NASCAR star Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet, will join Lefty, Kid’s Club mascot for Auto Club Speedway’s Reading to Race program, on the Opportunity, California FanZone stage for “story time” prior to the Auto Club 500 on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m.
“Wow, Jeff Burton reading to kids in the Opportunity, California FanZone on raceday. I can’t wait,” said Lefty who was joined by Ryan Newman at the Pepsi 500 in October. “We had some surprise friends come and see me last year. I can’t wait to see who shows up to see us this year!”
Available only through a free membership with the Auto Club Speedway Lefty’s Kids Club, children 5-12 years old have the exclusive opportunity to special events including a scavenger hunt, story time with Burton, the opportunity to win special prizes and much more during the Auto Club 500 on Feb. 21, 2010.
Launched in December 2008, over 25,000 students from San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Orange counties have participated with the Auto Club Speedway Reading to Race program. Students who successfully complete reading requirements set by the student’s teachers and from summer reading programs at local libraries are rewarded with an opportunity to attend special events at the Speedway, including the upcoming West Coast Premiere of NASCAR.
