Meg Whitman To Serve As Honorary Race Official For Stater Bros. 300
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2010) – Former Ebay President and CEO Meg Whitman will serve as an Honorary Race Official for Saturday’s NASCAR NNS Stater Bros. 300 at Auto Club Speedway.
As Honorary Race Official, Whitman will wave the green flag to get the race underway. The 150-lap, 300-mile Stater Bros. 300 is scheduled to begin at 2:30 local time.
Through the years Whitman’s career led her to key executive positions at some of America’s best‐known companies, including Disney, Stride Rite, FTD and Hasbro.
In the fall of 1997 she met the founder of a tiny start‐up company called eBay. She served as President and CEO from 1998-2008. When she joined eBay, the company had just $4.7 million in revenues and 30 employees; when she retired in March of 2008, ten years later, the company had nearly $8 billion in revenues and 15,000 employees worldwide.
