Big Weekend of AMA Pro Motorcycle Racing and Family Fun at Auto Club Speedway
AMA Pro Racing and “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” at Auto Club Speedway
San Bernardino County, Calif. (March 22, 2010) – Mark your calendars – Auto Club Speedway has an exciting weekend scheduled for you.
Auto Club Speedway is preparing for two exciting events this coming weekend, March 26-28, with “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” and Suzuki AMA Pro SuperBike Challenge.
A highlight of the weekend will be “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K”, Saturday, March 27, -- a fun, non-competitive 5K run, walk, skate or ride around the 2.36-mile, 21-turn road course that is set-up for the Suzuki AMA Pro SuperBike Challenge. As a bonus, anyone wearing their 5K bib will be admitted free to the motorcycle racing events later that day. Registration begins at 6:00 a.m. and the “green flag” will drop at 7:45 a.m. For more information or for advance registration visit www.leftys5k.com.
In addition to the 5K, there will be a Healthy Communities Expo including a climbing wall, Nutrition Network, a farmer’s market, sports activities and a variety of state, county and local agencies providing information, displays, interactive exhibits and services to help fight childhood obesity. Best of all it’s free to attend and runs until noon.
Beginning with qualifying on Friday and racing on Saturday and Sunday, the powerful rockets of the road of the Suzuki AMA Pro SuperBike Challenge will take to the Speedway’s road course. This will be the AMA’s first appearance on the west coast in 2010, and top riders in all three classes, AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL, and AMA Pro SuperSport will be here.
Top riders participating will be Jake Zemke in AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike, Danny Eslick who won both AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL races at Auto Club Speedway last year and in the AMA Pro SuperSport class, 16-year-old Elena Myers.
