Classic NHRA Hot Rods To Race At Auto Club Dragway
NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series April 23-25
San Bernardino County, Calif. (April 19, 2010) – If classic hot rods racing side-by-side down the dragstrip is your thing, then make plans to stop by Auto Club Dragway April 23-25 for the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series Sportsman Shootout.
The Sportsman Shootout is the second stop of nine for the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series schedule. This race is for Group 1 and Group 2 of the four categories eligible to race in the Series. Group 1 is comprised of A/Fuel, Junior Fuel, 7.0 Pro and AA/Gas Supercharged. Group 2 is Nostalgia Eliminator 1, 2 and 3, A-D Gas and Hot Rod.
Looking to defend their 2009 wins are Kin Bates (A/Fuel), Bud Hammer (Jr. Fuel) and Jirka Kaplan (AA/Gas) and Mike Cross (7.0 Pro) in Group 1. Group 2 winners were Mike Ford (A/Gas), Jim Teague (B/Gas), Scott Morgan (C/Gas), Mike Williams (D/Gas), Bobby Cottrell (Nostalgia I), Jason Francen (Nostalgia II), Tim Beeman (Nostalgia III) and William Teague (Hot Rod).
To help preserve NHRA’s rich history and tradition while capitalizing on the success of nostalgia drag racing competition, NHRA formed the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series that will crown year-end points champions in 14 categories.
Admission for each day is $20. Friday is a racers only test and tune day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday racing starts at 8:30 a.m.
