Rusty Wallace to Bring Authentic Stock Car Racing Experience to Southern California’s Auto Club Speedway
San Bernardino County, Calif. (July 6, 2010) – Auto Club Speedway has given fans yet another reason to visit the premier motorsports facility in Southern California with the addition of The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience.
Auto racing legend Rusty Wallace brings his driving school – The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience to Auto Club Speedway beginning in September, offering fans the chance to drive, in simulated race conditions, authentic stock cars built to current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series specs. The majority of the vehicles in The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience stables are current-spec Sprint Cup Series race cars that have previously been raced in competition. RWRE is currently taking reservations.
“Once again Rusty Wallace is proving he’s a champion. But this time, rather than a NASCAR Champion, he’s a champion to growing the economy in San Bernardino County with the opening of the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience,” said Auto Club Speedway President Gillian Zucker. “We are honored to be the home track for the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience and even more honored to call them our new neighbors.”
“As a NASCAR fan, I know how seriously fans take this sport and how much they relish the possibility of getting behind the wheel of a real Sprint Series stock car,” San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Paul Biane said. “I’ve driven in similar NASCAR racing simulations, and I can say without a doubt that the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience is going to add a new dimension by giving fans a chance to experience drafting, passing and other racing maneuvers on the track. This is going to be a popular addition to the already brimming lineup of motorsports and entertainment activities taking place at the Speedway throughout the year.”
“Our cars are beautiful,” said Wallace, the 1989 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, former Auto Club Speedway winner and current ESPN auto racing analyst. “We’ve been paying a lot of attention to the details because we know the true fans of auto racing are very knowledgeable; they’re looking for an authentic experience. Knowing the car they’re jumping into has actually been raced is important to them.”
Bringing authenticity to the fan experience is an important aspect of The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience’s philosophy and it extends beyond just the cars alone.
Added Wallace, “The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience is going to be different in that we’re going to be able to put our patrons in a situation where they can actually get out and feel what’s it’s like to race in these high horsepower cars. That’s why we decided to call it a “racing experience” and not just a driving school. It’s going to take your breath away.”
The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience currently has dates open September through December, with many more dates scheduled for 2011. For more details and upcoming promotions at the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience check out www.racewithrusty.com or call 877-772-1232.
