Auto Club Dragway Names New Manager
Pennsylvania native joins facility with 18 years of experience
San Bernardino County, Calif. (August 5, 2010) – Mark Dawson, an 18-year drag racing industry veteran, has been named Manager of Auto Club Dragway, one of drag racing’s premier championship, quarter-mile facilities in Southern California. Dawson will be responsible for overseeing all activities at Auto Club Dragway and assumes his duties immediately.
Dawson joins Auto Club Dragway from Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Penn., where he most recently served as Director of Racing Operations. Dawson, a Reading native, has also worked at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s dragstrip (2005-2007), as well as a three-year stint working Divisional and National events assisting NHRA’s Chief Starter Rick Stewart (2002-2004). He began his career in 1992 at Maple Grove Raceway parking cars and working in the concession stands.
He has also served as a consultant for various professional drag racing teams throughout his career as a track preparation specialist during off-season test sessions.
