Amazing Race Host Named Grand Marshal for Auto Club Speedway NNS Race


SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif.  (Oct. 6, 2010) – Phil Keoghan, host of the hit reality television show The Amazing Race, has been named Grand Marshal for Auto Club Speedway’s 300 NNS race on Saturday, Oct. 9th.

As Grand Marshal, the Emmy Award-winning Keoghan, who has hosted the series since it began airing in 2001, will give the most famous command in racing, “Drivers, Start Your Engines,” to start Auto Club Speedway’s NNS race on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT.

In addition to hosting the Emmy Award-winning Race, the New Zealand-born Keoghan, has worked on more than 20 shows in over 70 countries as a television host, producer, writer, and cameraman.

THE AMAZING RACE, currently in its 17th installment, airs Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

THE AMAZING RACE sends 11 teams on a trek around the world.  Each Team is comprised of two people who have a pre-existing relationship with one another.  At every destination, each Team competes in a series of challenges - some mental and some physical -and when the tasks have been completed, they learn their next destination.  Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.
