Hollywood Comes Callin’ at Auto Club Speedway
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (April 19, 2011) – The bright lights of Hollywood will once again shine on Auto Club Speedway as California native and NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson guest stars Wednesday night (April 20, 9:30/8:30c) in the new FOX comedy series “Breaking In.” Part of the NASCAR-focused episode was shot at Auto Club Speedway last month.
Breaking In, which stars Christian Slater, who served as Grand Marshal for the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in March, is an offbeat workplace comedy about a high-tech security firm that takes extreme – and often questionable – measures to sell its protection services. It centers on a team of uniquely skilled oddball geniuses hand-picked to work for OZ (Slater), a larger-than-life head honcho who is a man of mystery and master of manipulation.
Johnson played himself in the episode as the storyline is built around his race team needing security assistance. Although the five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion said the taping was a “very cool experience,” he has assured the world of NASCAR and his fans that he won’t be “leaving my day job anytime soon.”
Auto Club Speedway is the backdrop for numerous commercials, movie and television shoots. Just recently, AAA visited the Speedway for a commercial shoot while shows like “The Biggest Loser,” have also featured Southern California’s premier motorsports facility.
