Unique Nationwide Fad to Add Color to ‘Color Me Rad 5k’ INDYCAR Weekend
Auto Club Speedway set to become a tsunami of colors Sept. 15
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (July 30, 2012) – Fitness, fun and a myriad of colors are set to collide at Auto Club Speedway as the Speedway’s 5K will become the pallet for the newest fad sweeping the nation – Color Me Rad.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, thousands of eager participants will descend upon Auto Club Speedway for “The Color Me Rad 5K” – a new sensation spreading bright colors across the country and making each event participant a walking “work of art”.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. participants will become “human works of art” as they walk or run Auto Club Speedway’s infield and across the track while sporadically being doused with vibrant colors from well positioned staff en route to the finish line and an unforgettable post race celebration.
“The uniqueness of our event comes from the fact we have “color stations” where volunteers throw colored cornstarch on the participants, turning them into lovely, colorful running works of art,” said Alex Grow, Race Director, Color Me Rad. “The colored cornstarch is non-toxic and washes off with brooms and water.”
“I’m thrilled about the addition of Color Me Rad platform to our 5K,” said Gillian Zucker, Auto Club Speedway President. “I’m looking forward to joining the run and cajoling some other colorful personalities to join in – maybe even a driver or two”.
In addition to a colorful 5K, participants will also be granted access to season finale of INDYCAR! Early Bird cost for “The Color Me Rad 5K” starts at $38 and includes admission to the INDYCAR World Championships. Kids 12 and under are FREE with their complimentary Lefty’s Kids Club membership card. To register for Lefty’s Kids Club go to www.autoclubspeedway.com/kidsclub. About Color Me Rad: When Zoloft and balloon animals can't seem to raise your spirits, the best way to brighten your life is to run. After 5K of color bombardment, we guarantee your outlook will be brighter, your boyfriend will be more affectionate, your girlfriend will be less needy, the hair on your head will grow back and the hair on your back will fall out, your black and white TV will turn into 720p HD (I know you were hoping for 1080, but we organize races, we're not miracle workers), and your gray outlook will turn green like a spring morning. You’ll start off with a shirt as pure and white as your grandpa's dentures and you'll soak up enough color while running to change your skin tone forever. You'll wind up looking like a pack of skittles – just make sure not to “taste the rainbow.” So cast your DYE and get red in the face from Color Me Rad, and not from the embarrassment of passing up on the run of a lifetime.
