MAVTV Named Title Sponsor for INDYCAR Season Finale

Auto Club Speedway to host Championship Weekend, Sept. 14-15

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif.  (Aug. 10, 2012) – MAVTV, a 24/7 digital high-definition entertainment network featuring everything from blockbuster films to high octane motorsports will serve as title sponsor for the IZOD IndyCar World Championships, Speedway officials announced today.

The MAVTV 500 will be the culmination of INDYCAR World Championships Weekend which will include the Firestone Indy Lights Championship race as well as the IZOD IndyCar World Championship, set for Sept. 15 under the lights.

“We look forward to MAVTV joining Auto Club Speedway’s family of marketing partners,” said Speedway President Gillian Zucker.  “Our new partnership will serve as a valuable marketing platform to raise the awareness of MAVTV to thousands of loyal INDYCAR fans across the nation.”

For the first time in seven years, the thrill, excitement and speed of the IZOD IndyCar Series returns to Auto Club Speedway where the world speed record for the fastest lap of 241.428 mph was set in 2000 – and still stands today.

“Creating awareness for the all new MAVTV-American Real network is what motivated the decision to become title sponsor of INDYCAR’s season finale,” said Bob Patison, President of MAVTV.  “The thrill and excitement of an INDYCAR race is the perfect platform to showcase the fresh new look of MAVTV-American Real.  A network featuring programming aimed at the active American family.”

The nighttime spectacle includes Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and this year’s Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti along with high-profile owners Roger Penske, Chip Ganassi, A.J. Foyt and Bobby Rahal who will all visit Southern California’s premier motorsports facility with the intense competition, high-energy show scheduled to be run at night under the lights.

Sam Hornish Jr. won the Inaugural IZOD IndyCar Series race at Auto Club Speedway in 2002 in an exciting finish that saw him beat Jaques Lazier across the finish line by a mere 0.0281 seconds.  The series continued to run at Auto Club Speedway through 2005 and provided race fans with speed and excitement each time it visited the speedway.
