Several NASCAR drivers have California connections. Below is a roundup of how each California driver fared this weekend.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2012) – Matt Kenseth won a wild Hollywood Casino 400, beating Martin Truex Jr. to the checkered flag by .495 seconds to claim his third victory of the season, his second 2012 Chase race win, his first at Kansas Speedway and the 24th of his career.
Below is how our California drivers fared this weekend.

Jimmie Johnson 
No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet   
CaliConnection: El Cajon 
2nd in points

9th PLACE FINISH:  Jimmie Johnson, five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion in the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, hit the wall in Turn 4 just after the half-way mark in the 400-mile race. Quick repairs by the team put him back on track; and Johnson managed to bring it home in the ninth position. "I'm definitely proud of this team, and the fact that we never give up."

Jeff Gordon  
No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet  
CaliConnection: Vallejo 
8th in points    

10th PLACE FINISH:  “All in all it was a decent day for us.  I thought we could pull off a top five at one point, but we just didn’t.”

Kevin Harvick  
No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet  
CaliConnection: Bakersfield 
10th in points

11th PLACE FINISH: Harvick finished 11 dropping one spot after starting the day in 10th.

David Gilliland  
No. 38 Long John’s Silver Ford   
CaliConnection: Riverside 
28th in points 

23rd PLACE FINISH:  Starting 38, Gilliland was able to move up 15 spots. 

Casey Mears  
No. 13 GEICO Ford   
CaliConnection: Bakersfield 
30th in points

37th PLACE FINISH:  Starting 28th on the day, Mears was caught up in an accident on lap 29.

AJ Allmendinger 
No. 51 Phoenix Construction Chevrolet 
CaliConnection: Los Gatos 
32nd in points

35th PLACE FINISH: Starting 13th, Allmendinger was caught up in a crash on lap 69, ending his day in 35th place.

Josh Wise  
No. 26 MDS Transport Ford  
CaliConnection: Riverside  
39th in points

Wise failed to qualify for the event.

Scott Speed  
No. 95 B&D Electrical Ford  
CaliConnection: Manteca  
42nd in points

34th PLACE FINISH:  Electrical problems put Speed behind the wall on lap 77.

Mike Skinner       
CaliConnection: Susanville 
53rd in points

Skinner did not compete in the weekend’s event.

Jason Leffler

71st in points
