Kevin Harvick Captures 300 at Auto Club Speedway

FONTANA, Calif. – Kevin Harvick (No. 88, Chevrolet) raced to a dominating and “flawless” victory at the 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday at Auto Club Speedway.

Driving for JR Motorsports and owner Rick Hendrick with David Elenz serving as his crew chief, Harvick took the checkered flag for the 46th time in 319 NASCAR XFINITY Series races. It was his second victory in just three starts and third top 10 finish in 2015. It was his first series victory and 16th top 10 finish in 19 races at Auto Club Speedway.

“We’ve been close to winning here a lot of times,” the Bakersfield native Harvick said after the race. “Today we were really flawless most of the day. We’ve made great decisions all three weeks (on the West Coast swing) and have assembled a great group of guys. It’s just a lot of fun to drive these race cars right now and I’m just really fortunate to be able to drive these cars and have all this success.”

The 39-year-old Harvick led for 100 of 150 laps at the 2-mile Southern California oval. “I probably wore Dave out all week looking at pictures and other things trying to improve on last week,” Harvick added.

Brendan Gaughan (No. 62, South Point Chevrolet) was second and recorded his fourth top 10 finish in eight races at Auto Club Speedway. It is his third top 10 finish in 2015.

Erik Jones (No. 20, GameStop Toyota) was third and posted his first top 10 finish in his first race at Auto Club Speedway.

Darrell Wallace Jr. (No. 6, Roush Performance Products Ford) was the highest finishing rookie. Ty Dillon (No. 3, WESCO Chevrolet) leads the point standings by five points over Chris Buescher (No. 60, Fastenal Ford).
