FONTANA, Calif. (March 2, 2016) – Dave Allen, President of Auto Club Speedway, sported a red and white Dr. Suess-style hat today while reading a “The Cat in the Hat” book to a class of kindergartners at Dorothy Grant Elementary in Fontana as part of the NEA’s Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day.

Many across the country, including schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids and books.  Auto Club Speedway makes a strong effort at increasing literacy rates in Southern California by encouraging kids to read.   “Dr. Seuss Day motivates people and kids to read on this special day, specifically Dr. Seuss books.  We’re proud to have participated in a day that means a lot to the educational community and to us,” said Dave Allen.

Auto Club Speedway recently completed its month-long reading program, Lefty’s Reading Challenge, which saw over 150,000 kids participate across four counties in Southern California.  The program encourages students to read and earn tickets to a NASCAR race, a chance to win funds for their school library, and a school-wide pizza party. www.leftyskidsclub.com
