FONTANA, CALIF. – March 14, 2017 - Auto Club Speedway mascot Lefty is excited to announce that in addition to his 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series campaigns, rising star Ryan Blaney will serve as Honorary President of Lefty’s Kids Club at Auto Club Speedway.
As honorary president, the 23-year Ohio native will be the ambassador for Lefty’s Kids Club, which offers a free membership for children 12 years old and under. Members are offered the exclusive opportunity to special events including free general admission seats on Friday and Saturday of NASCAR weekend at Auto Club Speedway. The Club also offers exclusive meet and greet opportunities, participation in Lefty’s Track Days and discounts at participating local sponsor locations. Currently there are more than 126, 213 children registered in Lefty’s Kids Club.
Blaney’s first duty as president will be to read to the young fans during NASCAR Auto Club 400 race weekend (Sunday, March 26) as part of Driver Story Time at Lefty’s Fun Zone at 9 a.m.
As president, Blaney will also provide video updates throughout the year and host an exclusive Kids Club-only event teaching local kids about karting later in the year. Not only do Lefty’s Kids Club members, attending NASCAR weekend at Auto Club Speedway, enjoy world-class racing, but they’ll also experience fun filled Kids Club activities in Lefty’s Fun Zone. The family-friendly area offers everything from hands on educational programs, to photo opportunities, to kid-favorite foods and many more activities.
Blaney will also be the chief cheerleader of Lefty’s Reading Challenge, a literacy program in which almost 150,000 students in over 240 elementary schools in San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties take part in.
Third generation racer Blaney competes at NASCAR’s highest levels with the support of two of the motorsport’s most storied organizations: the Wood Brothers – NASCAR’s longest tenured team – and Team Penske – one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports.
Through an alliance between the Wood Brothers and Team Penske, Ryan pilots the iconic No. 21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. He also spends time behind the wheel of the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Fusion for Team Penske, as the company looks to win its fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner’s Championship.
