Petty Makes A Pit Stop at Auto Club Speedway

NASCAR legend Kyle Petty, driver of the No. 45 Wells Fargo/Marathon Dodge, paid a visit to Auto Club Speedway last week.  Petty arrived on his motorcycle in the morning and had a full day at the track participating in ride-alongs with local business leaders, meeting with media and taking part in a fan forum with Auto Club Speedway Hard Card holders.

Petty shared several NASCAR and racing related anecdotes with the roughly 200 fans in attendance at the Speedway’s Impulse retail area.  Among the many topics that Petty discussed were his Victory Junction Gang Camp ( and the way that the Car of Tomorrow will affect racing at Auto Club Speedway during 2008.

“I think the Car of Tomorrow is going to come into it’s own at a track like Auto Club Speedway,” said Petty. “I think it’s better suited for a 2.0-mile race track and next year’s races have the potential to be the best California races we’ve ever had,” Petty told fans in attendance.

After the question and answer session, Petty provided one of the highlights of the day when he was presented a guitar and performed some of the one-of-a-kind songs he’s written for the kids who visit the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
