Lefty's Family Fun Day & 5K

San Bernardino County, Calif. (March 9, 2010) – “5K” might be dreaded words to some, but not when Auto Club Speedway’s Kids Club mascot Lefty is involved!

Lefty and Auto Club Speedway invite families to come out for a morning of fun and motorcycle racing excitement at its inaugural “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” on Saturday, March 27.  Registration for the event begins at 6 a.m. at the Speedway’s Opportunity, California FanZone with the “green flag” waving at 7:45 a.m.

The inaugural “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” is a free family day and expo with a focus on promoting healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity and healthy food choices.  The event is highlighted by a fun, non-competitive 5K run, walk, skate or ride around the 2.36 mile, 21-turn road course that is set-up for the Suzuki AMA Pro SuperBike Challenge being held the same weekend.  After the 5K, participants wearing their 5K bib will be admitted free to the Suzuki AMA Pro SuperBike Challenge.

In addition to the 5K, families can enjoy fun-filled activities at the “Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” Healthy Communities Expo including a climbing wall, Nutrition Network, a farmer’s market, sports activities and a variety of state, county and local agencies providing information, displays, interactive exhibits and services to help fight childhood obesity.

“Lefty’s Family Fun Day and 5K” is endorsed by Healthy Communities, an initiative supported by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Public Health.
