World Renowned Blue Angels to Perform Flyover at Auto Club 400


SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 16,  2014) – The world renowned pride of the Navy and Marine Corps, United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, will perform a flyover prior to the start of the Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, March 23 which is scheduled to begin at Noon PT.  It is the only sporting event flyover on the Blue Angels 2014 schedule.

With its storied history and precision flying, the mission of the Flight Demonstration Squadron is to showcase the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps by inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country through flight demonstrations and community outreach.  An estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows each year.  Additionally, the Blue Angels visit more than 50,000 people a show season (March through November) during school and hospital visits.

About the Blue Angels:  The Blue Angels is the United States Navy's flight demonstration squadron. The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team (under the same name) in the world. The Blue Angels' six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet, typically in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year, where they still employ many of the same practices and techniques used in their aerial displays in 1946.
